Day 1: Arrive at Deep Lake and drive to Rocky Harbour

Your journey begins at Deer Lake Airport, where you'll pick up your rental car. From here, it's just a short drive to your hotel in Rocky Harbour. On arrival, check into your hotel. Rest of the day free.

Day 2: Day free to spend in the Gros Morne National Park

Day free to explore Gros Morne National Park. Gros Morne National Park: Explore the stunning landscapes and diverse ecosystems of Gros Morne National Park. The park offers numerous hiking trails, ranging from easy walks to challenging backcountry routes. Some popular trails include Gros Morne Mountain, Green Gardens, and the Tablelands. Watch salmon at Torrent River Nature Park's underwater observation windows in Hawke's Bay. Visit Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse & Broom Point Fishing Premises. Enjoy the charm of Rocky Harbour Marina. Learn at the Discovery Centre about geology, wildlife, and cultural heritage. Keep your eyes peeled for moose and caribou. Stargaze at a designated Dark Sky Preserve. Gros Morne National Park is a designated Dark Sky Preserve, making it an ideal place for stargazing. Day 3: Western Brook Pond cruise

Western Brook Pond Tour offers travelers a breathtaking, once-in-a-lifetime experience. This unique tour operates from Western Brook Pond in Gros Morne National Park and takes visitors through a fjord with towering canyon walls and cliffs surrounding the fjord. As part of the tour, visitors cruise across Western Brook Pond and hike through spectacular dry tundra before returning to the boat to continue exploring the area's natural beauty. In addition to amazing views, Western Brook Pond Tour offers incredible opportunities to spot wildlife such as moose, caribou, and bald eagles. Day 4: Cow Head, arches & archaeology

Today explore Arches & Archaeology.  Head to Cow Head to visit the famous the Dr. Henry N. Payne Community Museum.  Stroll Shallow Bay Beach.  Only 30 minutes away, The Arches Provincial Park is the perfect place to have a picnic and relax as you watch the ebb and flow of ocean waves. The park is named for the rock arches carved by eons of tidal activity. Last stop for the day is Port au Choix National Historic Site. Find relics from four ancient cultures who lived and thrived in this rugged place many years ago. After exploring the exhibits, take a walk along the coastal trails and scan the waves for seals and whales. Drop by Bird Cove for a display on Captain James Cook, who charted this part of the coast before he became a famous South Seas explorer.

Day 5: Drive to Saint Anthony by sea

This morning, start your journey to Saint Anthony by  Sea.  The stretch of highway north of Cow Head to Saint Anthony is a unique way to experience the beauty and maritime culture of Newfoundland. It offers a different perspective on this remote and scenic region, and it's an adventure that allows you to connect with the natural and cultural heritage of the area.  As you depart from Cow Head, you'll be treated to stunning views of the rugged Newfoundland coastline. The rocky cliffs, lush forests, and occasional fishing villages provide a scenic backdrop for your drive to Saint Anthoy by Sea. Along the way, you may pass by or stop at some smaller coastal villages and fishing communities. These communities have a rich maritime history and offer a glimpse into the traditional Newfoundland way of life.

Day 6: Viking legends come to life: explore L'Anse Aux Meadows, North America's Viking heritage

"Embark on a journey through time at L'Anse aux Meadows, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Newfoundland's northern tip. Discover the Viking legacy predating Columbus by 500 years, as you step into a Viking camp. Live like a Norseman, meet Viking characters, and immerse yourself in their fascinating history. Day 7: Explore NL's St. Anthony coast

This morning, set off to discover NL's stunning St. Anthony coast on a 2 ½ hour award-winning Discovery Tour! Witness abundant icebergs, humpbacks, dolphins, minke, fin, and orca whales. Visit eider duck, kittiwake, and black guillemot nesting colonies. Enjoy traditional music, stories, and heritage insights on our cozy 50-foot vessel. A nature-packed, educational, and hospitable adventure you'll cherish forever!

Later this afternoon, depart on a road trip from Saint Anthony to Deer Lake, NL.  Traverse Route 430, hugging the Atlantic's edge with stunning vistas on one side and rolling hills on the other. Explore coastal communities, fjords, and keep an eye out for majestic icebergs. Witness the rugged, barren beauty of Newfoundland's northern landscapes. This journey is a nature lover's dream!

Day 8: End of the Viking Trails self-drive tour

This morning, check out of your hotel and drive to Deer Lake Airport.  On arrival at Deer Lake Airport, drop your car off at the Rental Depot.
